Pastoral Support

Pastoral support is at the heart of our community. We are proud of the quality of care offered in these crucial two years of a student's life. This enables student wellbeing to be at the heart of all that we do. Students are very well cared for because of the priority we give to this vital aspect of Sixth Form life.

Pastoral support is an entitlement for all sixth form students. We are really proud of our pastoral support dealing with matters ranging from low level exam anxiety to support in dealing with major life events.

In Year 12, students have a Form Tutor.  These act as the first port of call for students. Our non-teaching Heads of Year are also available throughout the day, alongside the Sixth Form Lead. In Year 13, students have academic mentors who support with progress and any other matters.

We have access to a range of resources to support students and their families as they journey through our Sixth Form. We major on resilience and equipping students with strategies to support their own career journey and wellbeing so they are equipped for life beyond Bishop Stopford School.

Some of our unique elements of pastoral care include the Chapel and Chaplaincy, the Student Wellbeing Committee and effective partnerships with external agencies.
