We are celebrating another great year for A Levels. Well done to all in Year 13!
A significant number of students achieved top grades . Almost a third of grades were awarded at A and A*, and thirty students achieved at least three A or A* grades in their A Levels—an outstanding accomplishment. Early indications suggest that progress both for individual students and subjects is strong across the board. These results are a testament to the vibrant learning culture and high expectations which are seen throughout the Sixth Form.
Congratulations to the six students who will now go on to study at Oxford or Cambridge – a fabulous outcome for a state school. What is equally impressive is the range of subjects they will study - Biomedical Science, English Literature, Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Veterinary Medicine.
Most of our students who applied to university secured their first choices home and abroad, with others taking up places on highly competitive degree apprenticeships including business management and auditing and accounting. Another student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the army and will be sponsored through his degree in History.
Miss Silverthorne said, ‘Today is a fabulous day for all students who have achieved so well. It is the crowning glory for their hard work, as well as that of our staff. We are so thankful for the strong support their families have given too.
‘And while we are delighted with the achievements today, sixth form is about far more than statistics and great headlines. There are so many incredible individual stories which sit behind such great results as these. The sixth form team and teachers work relentlessly to unlock the unique potential of students through bespoke personal care and academic rigour. And the success we have seen today shows students have taken full advantage of the opportunities we have provided - increasing life chances for them all.
‘We extend our warmest congratulations to them all and wish them every success in their future endeavours. We look forward to building on these achievements in the coming year.’
