Bishop Stopford School runs an extensive extra-curricular programme of sports & games, both recreational and competitive.
Most of these activities take place at lunchtimes and are led by PE staff or other competent coaches and leaders. In addition, we utilise external coaches to deliver and enhance some of these activities.
We have excellent relationships with many local sports clubs which provide pathways for our students to participate in the local community. These pathways have resulted in many students achieving County, National and International honours in various sports.
The PE faculty runs 3 House Games days to provide all students with an opportunity to experience a competitive but inclusive environment. A wide variety of sports are catered for in the Winter, Spring and Summer Games days, providing opportunities for competitive intra-school sport.
Inter-school sport has a strong tradition at Bishop. We participate in fixtures and competitions throughout the school year. These range from local District leagues, events in the Schools Games programme and County/National Cup competitions.
The school over the last 12 years has embarked on 5 overseas sports tours. These have involved tours to New Zealand & Fiji, South Africa, Australia and the Far East.
