We have some flexibility in Further Maths course options but you will need to study Core Pure Mathematics which will count for 50% of the course.  The other 50% is likely to be made up of additional Mechanics and either Decision Maths (current Year 12) or Further Pure (current Year 13). Decisions on future year groups will be made at the end of each academic year in preparation for the next.

The current Year 12 have the option to sit the AS exam at the end of year 12, after which they can either continue into year 13 or then leave the subject and focus on their other A-Levels. The AS will carry UCAS points and is still an excellent qualification.

Core Pure (Compulsory modules)

You will study proof, complex numbers, matrices, further algebra and functions, further calculus, further vectors, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions and differential equations.

Further Mathematics 1 *

The topics of momentum and impulse, collisions, centres of mass. work and energy, elastic strings and springs will be covered.

Decision Mathematics 1*

You will study algorithms, networks, route inspection and linear programming.

* Alternative options may be chosen
