Humanities

Povertee Day 2009At Bishop Stopford, Humanities is a large and high performing Faculty comprising of History, Geography, Religious Education, Leisure and Tourism and Travel and Tourism. Staff work collaboratively to develop innovative practice in all aspects of teaching and learning and, as befits a Technology College, there is an increasing use of ICT in lesson preparation and delivery.

The Head of Faculty co-ordinates teaching and learning across Humanities but all of the subjects are led by a Head of Department. Elsewhere, the teaching team is well established, with a number of staff holding additional responsibilities for pastoral and cross-curricular roles.

The results of the Faculty in public examinations are extremely good. In 2007-8, for example, all departments achieved positive value added at Key Stage Four and there were outstanding results at Key Stage Five. There is a strong commitment to improve on this performance even further.
