Year 12 Students: History learner analysis
The History Department is proud of its achievements in recent years. Students take part in a variety of activities to develop their skills of chronology, source analysis, interpretation and causal reasoning. A variety of activities help students to achieve well, including role play, group work, games, extended writing and debates. These activities are mirrored at A Level, where students have the opportunity to explore units in depth and develop advanced source analysis and independent study skills.
Key Stage 3
Students follow the National Curriculum, studying the Romans and Medieval Realms in Year 7, 1500-1900 in Year 8 and WWI and the 20th Century in Year 9.
Key Stage 4
Students follow the OCR Modern World B syllabus.
Paper 1 = 2 hours (45%)
Paper 2 = 1 hour 30 minutes (30%)
Coursework = 25%
Key Stage 5
Students follow the Edexcel GCE History, consisting of four units.
AS: 100% examined through 2 one hour and 20 minutes papers
A2: 60% examined through 1 2 hour paper
40% Historical enquiry (coursework)
