This course is challenging and interesting, building up to an excellent knowledge of Biology.

Examinations:

During Year 12 (AS) you will study 2 theory modules:

  • Cells Exchange & Transport
  • Molecules, Biodiversity, Food & Health.

You will also study for a practical exam.

During Year 13 (A2) there will be three further units studied.

  • Communication, Homeostasis & Energy
  • Control, Genomes & Environment
  • Practical assessment

Enrichment:

Course can involve a trip to SATRA to look at an electron microscope, a visit to West Lodge Rural Centre and a field studies centre in Yorkshire.

Skills:

A firm commitment to learning, a good attitude to individual study and grades of B and above in Science and Maths GCSE.

The modules are tested in January and June. Module 1 makes up 30% of the final AS grade, module 2 makes up 50% and the practical exam makes up 20%.
