A Level Biology Field Trip

On the 20th and 21st March, Sixth Form A Level Biology students completed field work at Newton Field Centre.

Luckily the snow from the second 'Beast from the East' had cleared sufficiently to allow the students to identify the grassland species around the field centre. The students looked at the distribution and abundance of plants and also calculated the species diversity.

Field work is a key method of supporting the work done in the laboratory. It gives students a first-hand experience and makes their learning more meaningful and memorable.
